Use up a little shoe leather for a fun and interesting way to see Kingston, Ontario, Canada with Kingston Walks!

On our walks we discuss the beginnings of Kingston. We chat about the fur trade, what the arrival of the loyalists meant, a good deal about the Kingston and area fortifications, some of which are now a World Heritage site, and most of which were built then for protection from our neighbour's to the south. Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald is a topic we spend time on during our walk, as well as our world famous Queen's University.

By enjoying our Kingston Walks you will learn the stories of Kingston, and the evolution from a conservative, royalist town to the dynamic city you will walk through today.

Three types of tours are offered: Introduction to Kingston, Towers and Turbines, and a longer in-depth Tour of Kingston.

All tours are led by knowledgeable, and friendly, tour guides dressed in 19th century costumes.

Tours start at the Tourism Information Office at 209 Ontario Street in Kingston.


An exciting way to get the inside scoop on Kingston's history. Discover our beginnings - the fur trade, the arrival of the Loyalists, our military fortifications, the influence of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, City Hall, and more! Open daily May till August. Tours begin daily at 10:00 and 1:30 and last 45 minutes - 1 hour.


This tour includes a trip on the Wolfe Island Ferry discussing Kingston's fortifications (towers) and the Wolfe Island Wind Farm (turbines). Get the best view of the forts on the ferry ride over and learn about Kingston's green energy on the island. Tours run Monday to Friday at 10:00 and last about 2.5 hours.


This tour is a more complete history of Kingston and includes a longer walk down King Street to see some of the Loyalist mansions. The tour ends at City Park where the guides will show you the statue of Sir John A. This tour is available by reservation only.
