Kingston Pump House Museum
Near the west end of Ontario Street near downtown Kingston is the Pump House Museum.
This historical building was one of the sources for Kingston's water up until 1953, yet it wasn't until 1973 that it was opened as a museum, after extensive renovation by the Frontenac Society of Model Engineers.
Many visitors react in awe at sight of the massive steam-powered fly-wheel engines that first greet them as they enter.
If you are interested in model trains, "O" gauge and others, the Kingston Pump House also houses a variety of them on display for visitors to see and it's the home of the Frontenac Society of Model Engineers.
It's normally open for public access from late May through the end of August, is usually closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and it's recommended that you check to make sure it's open before making the trip down. There is an admission charge.
